Primary Goal: To provide diaper bags and essential resources to adolescents who have experienced foster care.

Who Qualifies?

  • Must be pregnant

  • Ages 12-24

  • Must be in foster care or experienced foster care
     

 

Program Objectives:

  1. Provide Essential Supplies: Equip each parent who has experienced foster care with a fully stocked diaper bag to ensure they have the basic necessities for their child’s early care.

  2. Offer Educational Resources and Life Skills Support: Deliver comprehensive educational materials and guidance focused on parenting techniques, life skills development, and self-sufficiency.

  3. Facilitate Access to Community Services and Support Networks: Connect mothers to a wide range of local services designed to support their health, well-being, and long-term success.

Available Community Resources for Mothers:

  • WIC Assistance: Support with the application process for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program.

  • Prenatal Care Access: Guidance on obtaining prenatal healthcare to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

  • Legal Support: Free legal assistance related to child support and custody matters.

  • Safety Workshops: Opportunities to participate in workshops that provide free car seats and Pack 'n Play cribs.

  • Lunch and Learn Sessions: Interactive sessions covering a variety of topics, including:

    • Life skills

    • Mental health and self-care

    • Parenting education

    • Financial literacy

    • Workforce development and empowerment

  • Community Engagement: Access to a supportive network of mothers who share similar experiences.

  • Family Planning Resources: Information and support related to family planning options.

  • Mentorship Opportunities: Ongoing guidance through mentorship programs designed to foster personal growth and parenting confidence.

  • Celebratory Events: Participation in community baby showers to celebrate expectant mothers.

  • Nursing Support: Access to prenatal nursing care (eligibility: must be pregnant with your first child).

  • Summer Employment Opportunities: Job placements during the summer months to promote workforce readiness.

  • Postpartum Support Services: Continued support for 90 days following childbirth, ensuring a smooth transition to parenting.

  • Invitation to Join MentorHer: Enrollment in our ongoing mentorship program, MentorHer, to receive additional support and guidance.
